The Orlando Magic Have Fired Assistant General Manager Dave Twardzik and Six Scouts

According to Joshua Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, the Orlando Magic have fired Assistant General Manager Dave Twardzik and six team scouts. Twardzik became the Director of Player Personnel for the Magic in 2003 and was promoted to Assistant GM in 2005.

I’m not completely shocked at this move, as new GM Rob Hennigan is beginning his tenure for the franchise and wants to start taking the team in the direction he sees fit. The next step for the team is to hire a head coach and find a solution for Dwight Howard.

Twardzik was in charge of the team’s Draft preparations, which is this Thursday.

According to Robbins:

Team spokesman Joel Glass confirmed that Twardzik, regional scout Tom Conrad, regional scout Greg Stratton, pro scout Bob Staak, international scouting coordinator Sam Foggin, NBA advance scout Al Walker and an international scout have been let go. Scouting coordinator Brian Wright will remain on the staff.
