Andy Samberg Leaving Saturday Night Live

Andy Samberg, pictured above as one of his recurring characters Shy Ronnie, with Rihanna is leaving sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live.

Samberg, who joined the show in 2005, was best known for his digital shorts with his rap group The Lonely Island, best known for tracks; “I’m On a Boat,” ft. (T. Pain), which was nominated for a Grammy, “Dick in a Box,” and “Motherlover,” (ft. Justin Timberlake), and “I Just Had Sex,” (ft. Akon). On the season finale of this season he did “Lazy Sunday 2,” and rapped these lyrics:

“On these New York streets I hone my fake rap penmanship, that’s how it began, and that’s how I’m-a-finish it,”

Little did everyone know that those words rang a lot closer to home than expected, Samberg says like fellow ormer SNL cast member Kristen Wiig, he felt that the time was right. He does hope to still pop in here and there adding, “That’s the kind of thing that I really do hope happens.” Check out some of his classic SNL digital shorts:
