[UPDATED] Tim Tebow Traded to the New York Jets

Tim Tebow has been traded from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets in exchange for a fourth- and sixth-round draft pick for this year’s draft, the Jets also will get a seventh-round pick.

The move makes sense as the Jets are one of a few teams that still run the Wild Cat offense. What’s more interesting than the Jets acquiring Tebow is what cornerback Antonio Cromartie had to say on Tuesday via his Twitter account:

We don’t need Tebow. We sell out every home game let him go to Jacksonville Tampa or Miami.

As of posting time Cromartie hasn’t yet responded to the Jets acquisition, but did add more to his previous Tebow tweet, two hours prior to this post:

Y bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more Weapons for @Mark_Sanchez let’s build the team around him. We already signed to 3 year ext.

Well that will certainly be worth keeping an eye on as Tebow is introduced in New York. The Jets do not visit Denver in 2012, but do visit Jacksonville, a team that was rumored to be interested in him.

As a Jaguars fan, I wanted to see him go to Jacksonville ONLY because the media there would throw a sh** fit, which is always fun to see. Other than that the Tebow-to-JAX rumors made no sense at all. “He’ll sell more tickets which would avoid blackouts!” people have said. Well the team has had no blackouts since Tebow was drafted, try again.

[UPDATE]

ESPN is reporting that the trade may not go through due to Tebow’s contract. In Tebow’s contract it states he is due a salary advance of $6.2 million, which $1.2 million has already been paid by the Broncos. That leaves $5 million due to Tebow, which the Jets don’t want to pay and feel the Broncos should pay it. While these two continue to work on the agreement, ESPN also says that the Jaguars are back in the mix to land Tebow, along with St. Louis.
