[UPDATED] Joe Paterno Has NOT Passed Away
Joe Paterno has passed away at the age of 85. Complications from his chemotherapy from lung cancer attributed to his death on Saturday.
“JoePa” holds the Divison I record for coaching career wins, racking up 409 during his 46-year tenure as head coach.
Paterno was let go by Penn State in November for his role in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. In an interview with The Washington Post, Paterno was remorseful for not doing more to stop the alleged crimes committed by Sandusky.
What’s sad in his passing, is people will likely remember him more for his role in the scandal, rather than his work at Penn State. He was well known for encouraging his players to perform well in the classroom.
