The Top 10 Viral Music Related Videos Of 2011Rebecca Black #1 WTF At #8
Fresh off being announced as the most searched topic on Google for 2011, and probably to the surprise of no one, Rebecca Black’s hit single? “Friday,” was named by Billboard as the #1 music related viral video of 2011.
#10. Justin Bieber’s “Otis” Freestyle
In 2011 Jusin Bieber had baby mama drama and started rapping, guess he’s gaining some street cred and I’m guessing he’ll be the next “hot” rapper.
#9. The Lonely Island – “3-Way” (The Golden Rule) (ft. Justin Timberlake & Lady Gaga)
Another SNL digital short, definitely not as good as “Dick in a Box,” or “Mother Lover,” or “I Just Had Sex,” but it had its moments.
#8. Duck Sauce – “Big Bad Wolf” (NOTE this video, has some distasteful humor, but it’s not my list so watch at your own risk)
Fresh off their Grammy nomination for their breakout single, “Barbara Streisand,” Billboard called this the most disturbing video of the year. I never saw this video until writing this post, but I thought it was hilarious, in a very disturbing way.
#7. Lana Del Ray – “Video Games”
WTF, super random video here. I don’t get it, but apparently there’s a longer version coming in 2012.
#6. Odd Future on Jimmy Fallon
Odd Future made their big time debut on the Jimmy Fallon Show, they were unknowns at the time, but they showed us what we all came to know and love about Tyler with the crazy performance, and his post performance shenanigans.
#5. The Sellout Off Black Keys vs. Vampire WeekendVodpod videos no longer available.
Stephen Colbert having won a Grammy in 2010, was apparently eligible to vote for the awards for this year, so he decided to have a “Sellout off,” to decide who was going to get his vote, by who had their music played in more commercials. Fast Forward to 3:45 to see the start.
#4. The Lonely Island – “Jack Sparrow” (ft. Michael Bolton)
This was another SNL digital short, the only part I thought was funny, was the way that they were responding to Bolton’s 80s style on the hook while they were trying to make a club banger. Again, not their best, but it was alright.
#3. Karmin – “Look At Me Now”
This chick killed it, including Busta Rhymes’ tongue twisting lyrics. She has other videos including Nicki Minaj’s “Superbass,” but she doesn’t have the top “Superbass,” video, because that goes to…..
#2. Sophia Grace Brownlee – “Superbass”
A lot of people I know haven’t seen this video, but it’s hilarious, it’s a little girl who can’t be over six years old singing all of the words to Nicki Minaj’s, Critics’ Pick #1 single of 2011, “Superbass,” complete with her own hype girl. This video led to her being featured on The Ellen Show, several times and even meeting Nicki on one episode. For some odd reason she has a Twitter page, not sure what a six year old would tweet about, what cereal she ate this morning? Then again I know adults that tweet about that too LOL.
