Should the Magic Trade Dwight Howard For LeBron James?
Orlando Sentinel’s Magic insider, Brian Schmitz, presents an interesting trade scenario for the Magic.
In his trade scenario he suggests the Magic should swap Dwight Howard for LeBron James. I encourage everyone to check out this scenario at the link above for all the details, I’m not sure what to think about this trade.
On the one hand it is LeBron James, one of few players in the league that can take an entire game over (except in the fourth quarter) and on the other hand it is the same guy who burned Cleveland and looked like the biggest douche in America.
Would Dwight play in Miami along side Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh?
Schmitz points out that with Dwight in Miami there would be “less duplication” meaning more balance with less jump shots and more dunks.
Adding LeBron to the Magic would be hitting a trade home run, getting a MVP player in return. LeBron would not only bring fans to the arena, but he would also attract stars to play here. Orlando would still remain a contender and could be a legitimate threat if more stars flocked to Central Florida.
It’s going to be tough for Magic fans to imagine LeBron coming here. It’s fair to say that most basketball fans, except in South Florida, hate LeBron James. I think if fans take their hatred for him aside, 9 out of 10 people would love him to play for their team. So I’m asking, would Orlando want LBJ in pinstripes? My answer is sure, why not? If the deal can be approved, make it. Otis has to do something to keep his job and this move could do that. Does he really want to be the guy who let Dwight Howard go with no significant compensation in return?
