Throwback Tuesday – The Offspring “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)”

My selection for today’s Throwback song should be one that everyone recognizes, The Offspring’s “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy).”

This is one of The Offspring’s best-selling songs and appears on the band’s Greatest Hits album. The song originally appears on the Americana album, which was released in 1998. The album debuted at number six, selling 175,000 copies. Back in 1998 the music industry was in much better shape (at least for record labels), as 175,000 copies sold these days might debut at number one on the charts.

The song also received significant play time on MTV’s ‘TRL: Total Request Live,’ as it was the fourth music video to be retired. Of course everyone should still remember that a retired video is one that has been played 65 times. If you still don’t recognize this song from the late ’90s or TRL, the song was featured on Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Now sit back and enjoy a white guy driving in a low rider and break dancing.
