Thoughts of a Jeanius: New Music Tuesday

We’re starting something new this week, Cody & I will choose some new music that we hear during that week. No necessary genre or it doesn’t necessarily have to be good, just some interesting new music!

Mean Jean’s Pick: For the first New Music Tuesday, I picked a track from Ludacris’ new mixtape 1.21 Gigawatts, this song is getting a lot of buzz, because in this song Luda goes after Big Sean and Drake for them saying that he stole their flow. Luda doesn’t call them out by name, but makes it clear who he’s talking to by dropping Sean’s “boyyyyy” before the song he has an interlude called “History Lesson,” where he makes the claim that the flow has been used in Hip Hop for years.

Cody’s Pick:

TI has released a new song, “Pyro,” which is set to be released on his upcoming album, “Trouble Man.” This album already features two songs that have leaked already: “I’m Flexin” and “Hear Ye, Hear Ye.” I wrote when I’m Flexin came out that TI has an unmistakable swagger and his confidence level seems to be at an all-time high.

I don’t think TI has released a song since his release that wasn’t classic TI. He said upon his release he wanted to return to the Trap Muzik TI and I think so far so good. I like this song Pyro, I think it’ll join the likes of the other songs he’s dropped post-prison. Still my favorite post-prison verse was the one on Yelawolf’s “Hard White” remix featuring Slaughterhouse. Check out the song below and let us know what you think!
